Dr. Arthur C. Bartner is stepping down as leader of USC’s Spirit of Troy after 50 years leading the renowned band. Through the years, Bartner has just about seen it all on the football field — National Championships, Heisman winners, Rose bowls and even a few losing seasons — but the one constant has been his band. It’s become a signature aspect of USC football and Trojan gamedays, and Bartner has been the face for half a century. Now, though his time atop the ladder is coming to an end, his legacy is sure to live on.
